Lesson 06
Taking God as our Own
When we are able to realize God’s wonderful gift and His power, which He Himself has given us our hearts can become restless. Immediately we can ask ourselves for responding to this “what should we do now?” How can we really take God into our hearts by accepting the salvation that He has given us? We will get answer to such questions in Lesson – Six : We must invite the Hazrat Isa (Jesus) into our hearts so that He may become the centre and the Lord of our life. The flowing verses from the Quran and the Bible will help us to understand this:
Prophetic Books
Jeremiah 24 : 7 : Then I will give them a heart to know Me, that I am the LORD; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God, for they shall return to Me with their whole heart.
Al- Zabur (Psalm)
Chapter 13 verse 5 : But I have trusted in Your mercy; My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.
Al-Injeel
Revelation 3 : 20 : Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
Al-Quran
Surah 13. Ar-Ra’d (The Thunder) verses 27 – 29 : . . . But He guideth to Himself those who turn to Him in penitence,- “Those who believe, and whose hearts find satisfaction in the remembrance of Allah. for without doubt in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find satisfaction. “For those who believe and work righteousness, is (every) blessedness, and a beautiful place of (final) return.”
What is the Good News? God guides the Sinner, who repents. Remember that repentance and faith leads our hearts to rest. We must obey God and the one, whom God sent to be the Savior of our life here and also the life here after, to be the redeemer and mediator – The Hazrat Isa (Jesus) and welcome Him in faith into our hearts. In order to accept Him into our hearts we need pray to God that He may cleanse our hearts and help us to live in repentance and faith.
Once a man decided to climb up the top of a mountain. He took with him all necessary resources or item and also a guide in this journey. He set his goal and started the journey. They continue to climb up the mountain and also take breaks from time to time to take food and drink. At certain point in their journey they realized that they were climbing on the wrong direction as they found themselves facing only dark jungles and very steep hills.
Suddenly they came to a very deep gorge. The guide came to the edge of the gorge to consider it. He located a big piece of stone somewhere in the gorge and he estimated that one can make a jump from on the stone and go to the other side of the gorge. He told the other man of this and they were thinking of using this strategy.
But the man feared that if he could not succeed in making the leap he would fall into the deep gorge and would get killed. He prepared himself for making a leap again and again but he did not have the courage to actually take the leap. In the end the guide tied up himself to the stone and firmly stood up on the soil nearby. Then he stretch out him hand to the man. He asked him to hold his hand firmly and make the jump. Even after this the man was hesitating to have ago. Then the guide looked at him and said, “Sir, this my hand has help many people so long to climb mountains this way and never failed in this. Trust on it and make the jump”
At last he made the jump and it was a successful jump and they both were able to go to the other side. They were able to start their journey towards their destination again.
We too should remember that we are on our journey to climb a high mountain which will lead us to God’s peace and eternal life. We have to watch out whether there works any negligence or anything against our faith in God and His miraculous help in our journey. We must have trust in the mighty hands that were pierced on the cross for our salvation. The mighty hands of God are enough – the hands that have already delivered us – to protect us in our times of troubles. The following verses from the Quran and the Bible bear testimony to this truth.
Prophetic Books
1 Chronicles 22 : 19 : Now set your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God.
Ezekiel 18 : 31 – 32 : Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel? For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies,” says the Lord GOD. “Therefore turn and live!”
Al- Zabur (Psalm)
Chapter 119 verses 145 & 149 : I cry out with my whole heart; Hear me, O LORD! I will keep Your statutes. Hear my voice according to Your loving kindness; O LORD, revive me according to Your justice.
Chapter 28 : 7 : The LORD is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him.
Al-Injeel
Romans 10 : 10 : For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Hebrews 10 : 22 – 23 : let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
Al-Quran
Surah 58. Al-Mujadala (She That Disputeth, The Pleading Woman) verse 22 : . . . For such He has written Faith in their hearts, and strengthened them with a spirit from Himself. . . .
It is only God, who gives us faith. If He does not give this we cannot have it at all. Even the Quran does not say that one can achieve or have faith by doing some good works. But when one receive Hazrat Isa (Jesus) in his heart in faith God give him the Holy Spirit as a gift. This is what is meant by “has strengthened them by his spirit.”
Surah 64. At-Taghabun (Mutual Disillusion, Haggling) verse 11 : . . . and if any one believes in Allah, ((Allah)) guides his heart (aright): for Allah knows all things.
Surah 4. An-Nisa’ (Women) verse 110 : If any one does evil or wrongs his own soul but afterwards seeks Allah.s forgiveness, he will find Allah Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.
It is very clear from these verses that God never turns down anyone who comes to Him in true repentance.
