Lesson 01
Purpose of God in our life
God is love. He loves people, who can love Him in return. Trees, plants and other creatures cannot love him. He wants to love some one, who would value His love and that love would make other peoples’ lives meaningful. Therefore God created man in his image as the greatest of creations.
According to Al Quran: Sura Baqara 30-39 and Sura A’raf 18-25 verses and Bible, (Torah) Genesis 1:24 verses: we learn that God wanted to create Man as His representative. Even He gave him more knowledge / Wisdom then He gave the Angels. God created also a woman from Hazrat Adam whom He had name Hazrat Eve.
We know also from the revealed books that God kept them both in the heavenly garden where He had given them to live blissfully and had given them permission to eat everything they wanted there. However He wanted to know how obedient they would be to God. He forbade them to not to eat of the fruit of only one tree. He also added a warning to this that should they disobey this commandment of God they would be reckoned with the fallen implying that their right relation with God would be cut off and they would be far away from Him.
We know all what followed. Hazrat Adam and his wife failed to obey only one commandment of God. Having been entrapped of Satan they were driven out from the heavenly garden. This is how Mankind fell into the world of Sin. Right from then on we were alienated from God. As because God is love, He made Himself a promise that He would deliver Mankind from Sin.
Al-Torah
Genesis 3: 14 – 15 : And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
Al –Quran
Surah 2. Al-Baqara (The Cow) 38 verse : We said: “Get ye down all from here; and if, as is sure, there comes to you Guidance from me, whosoever follows My guidance, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.
Surah 7. Al-A’raf (The Heights) 24-25 verse: ((Allah)) said: “Get ye down. With enmity between yourselves. On earth will be your dwelling-place and your means of livelihood,- for a time.” He said: “Therein shall ye live, and therein shall ye die; but from it shall ye be taken out (at last).”
We can clearly understand from the above-mentioned verses that God wanted to save us from our sins and restore us back to our former glory for which purpose He made the promise to send the true way or the Guidance. Al- Taurat says that He would send one guide, who was to be born of a woman. Those who would live accordingly to the way he would show would not have any fear of judgment in the world to come and would neither be happy.
Al- Torah
Deuteronomy 7: 9 : Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations; 7:10 And repayeth them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face.
Al- Zabur (Psalm)
Chapter 5 Verse 12 : For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield
Al-Injeel
Luke 1: 50 : And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.
Al –Quran
Surah 7. Al-A’raf (The Heights) 96 verse : If the people of the towns had but believed and feared Allah, We should indeed have opened out to them (All kinds of) blessings from heaven and earth; but they rejected (the truth), and We brought them to book for their misdeeds.
It is clearly understood from the above-mentioned scriptural verses that God is greatly caring for His crown of creation – Man. From age to age He revealed purpose and intention for us through various Prophets and Spokesmen; and His desire is that we might receive from Him true peace, joy, security and guidance. All these are possible only through the spiritual relationship with Him.
We know that even an old and dirty electric light bulb lights up once it is connected with electricity line. The bulb is changed immediately. But it cannot reflect as much light as it could give before. But the light of a new and clear bulb is very bright and luminous and it is beautiful and as such it can show the way to many people. This is an illustration only from which we can understand that what could be our condition before we know and relate to God or after we know and relate to Him rightly. Some verses from the Quran and the Bible are quoted here-bellow:
Prophetic book
Isaiah 60: 20 : for the LORD shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.
Al-Zabur (Psalm)
Chapter 16 verse 11 : Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
Chapter 27 verse 1 : The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Al-Injeel
1 Peter 2 : 9-10 : But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light; Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
Al –Quran
Surah 24. An-Nur (Light) 35 verse : Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The Parable of His Light is as if there were a Niche and within it a Lamp: the Lamp enclosed in Glass: the glass as it were a brilliant star: Lit from a blessed Tree, an Olive, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil is well-nigh luminous, though fire scarce touched it: Light upon Light! Allah doth guide whom He will to His Light: Allah doth set forth Parables for men: and Allah doth know all things.
Therefore, we can understand that God has a will or a purpose for us. That purpose is that we may live in fellowship with Him, that we may live again with God in heaven again. Truly He loves us. But we know that our sinful life keeps us apart from God’s love.
In the next lesson we will see how sin has kept us separate from God. Before we do so please read this lesson carefully and then send to back by click submit bottom after answer the questions. May God bless you to understand His Word! Amen.
